Tour de Vin is one of the premiere Foundation tastings of the year, boasting over 100 wines from around the world and exotic dishes from over 20 of Austin’s top chefs. Hosted under the stars atop the Whole Foods Market rooftop, with live music and dancing, this event offers a unique and delicious culinary tour. 10 Year Anniversary of the Stephan Pyles Celebrity Chef Dinner & Live Auction Sunday, November 8, 2009 Stephan Pyles Restaurant, Dallas $125 Members & General Public
This culinary showcase is a Foundation showstopper. Named for the one of the ‘Founders of Southwestern Cuisine’ Dallas Chef Stephan Pyles, this seated dinner features five celebrity chefs from across the state. Together they create an elegant evening of extraordinary wining and dining with a short wine auction following dinner. Big Reds and Bubbles is a champagne, red wine and cuisine tasting featuring over 75 different red wines, champagnes and sparkling wines. Chefs Under Fire Monday, November 30, 2009 AT&T Conference Center, Austin
This event is an Iron Chef style competition open to anyone and that will feature three Iron Chef (past competitors on the Food Network Iron Chef America show) judges - Chefs David Bull, Tyson Cole, and Kent Rathbun, all of whom are featured in the Plate & Vine Interactive Cookbook (www.winefoodcooking.com)
They will serve as judges for a culinary competition that will result in three finalists and one overall winner. Each chef will pick one of the recipes they donated to the Plate & Vine Interactive Cookbook. They will individually decide whether they want competitors to make their dish exactly as was prepared in the recipe, or if they want the participant to be creative with the recipe.
Each entrant (no geographic limitation) will pay a $20 fee per entry. Each entry will receive a gift certificate for a Plate & Vine cookbook and an entry for one judge of their choice. An entrant can compete with one, two, or all three chefs. All entrants must prepare the recipe and send it into the Keeper Collection/WFFT to be considered for one of three finalists per chef. The three finalists will be preparing their recipe at the event under a time limit at the event. Participants will have the opportunity to promote themselves to the chef in the form of written word, pictures, and/or short videos, no longer than three minutes.

Stephan Pyles Culinary Scholarship – Call for Entries Are you currently a culinary student or know of someone who is? Let them know about the WFFT’s Stephan Pyles Culinary Scholarship – one of the largest culinary scholarships in the country. A call for entries will be announced mid-October, so be sure to check back soon! This year’s final competition will be held at the Texas Culinary Academy in Austin.
