We at The Turtle try to provide a place to relax and enjoy the conversation of your family and friends while celebrating the diversity of the earth’s bounty.
We feel that the enjoyment of good food and conversation is essential for happiness. We are
dedicated to the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and community. We advocate the return to conversation centered leisurely meals. We think a firm defense of quiet material pleasure is the only way to oppose the universal folly of Fast Life.
Our menu changes with the seasons in order to provide you with the freshest possible produce and a variety of taste experiences. We are making every effort to support local growers and encourage our customers to direct us to new sources.

We are located at 514 Center Avenue Brownwood, TX 76801 right across the street from City Hall.
Lunch at the Turtle features soups salads and a variety of sandwiches on savory house made breads. We buy our hamburger and eggs locally from Novella Newman’s Ranch, cheeses from Texas dairies, and during market season our vegetables come from our farmer's market and Sliger’s Produce. Much of our meat is butchered in Cross Plains.
Dinner can be casual or formally coursed. In the fall you may find Curried Pumpkin Soup, Clam Chowder, Beef Oscar Tenderloin, Honey Pecan Crusted Chicken, Cranberry-mustard Crusted Lamb, Roasted Beet Salad, Gulf Coast Crab Cake.
We are known for the richest coffee in town. Espresso and Cappuccino are available.
Special Occasions
Our candle lit private dining room is perfect for weddings, luncheons, anniversaries, birthdays
and special events of any kind, seating up to 44.Entire restaurant seats 88 or 100 for standing
hors d'oevres. Patio and garden also available for parties and special events. We are handicapped accessible. Easy parking.
Gelateria
The Turtle Gelateria serves 16 flavors of Italian ice cream and sorbetto made fresh each week by our gelato artisan. You will be surprised and delighted by regional flavors such as Jalapeno Peanut Brittle, Denman Peach or Dulce de Leche in addition to traditional Italian flavors such as Hazelnut and Lemon.
Gelato is lower in butterfat, has less air and much more flavor than American style ice cream. We use the freshest ingredients and have the friendliest servers.
Enoteca
Serving 20 wines by the taste, glass, or bottle. Specializing in Italian and Texas wines.
For our beer drinking friends we have ten kinds of micro-brewed beers by the bottle from Texas, Colorado, and California.
Our Enoteca menu features small plates including our fabulous Roman-style pizza baked in our Italian hearth ovens.
