The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas thrives on the boundless energy and enthusiasm of an active community of volunteers. From pouring wine samples at community tastings to assisting behind-the-scenes with celebrity chefs, Foundation volunteers are provided opportunities for both fun and rewarding experiences.
A common thread with most all Foundation volunteers is the obvious love for what they do. They all share a passion for wine and food and find themselves inspired by the members, chefs, and winemakers they meet and they in turn, inspire others.
In addition to meeting new friends, having a great time and of course – sampling great wines and food, you will also be filling a need while supporting education and excellence within Texas’ culinary and viticulture arts.
See below and check back often to meet some of our longtime WFFT volunteers:
Bill, Mary Ellen and Kara Krautter
About seven years ago, we attended the Big Reds and Bubbles event at the Driskill Hotel. Bill’s a big red kind of guy and I love the bubbles! Not only did we have a great time, but we saw how much fun the volunteers were having. Soon after, our daughter, Kara, interned in the Foundation office for the summer and continued to volunteer when home from college.
The many programs offered by the Foundation to support it's mission of promoting culinary and viticulture arts appeal to a broad cross section of the general public. One of the many things we love about volunteering is that you never know who you will meet! Now all three of us “Team Krautter” continue to volunteer. It is always exciting to learn more about wine and local restaurants, but the real rewards are friendships with other volunteers and Foundation staff.
Randy & Linda Rosens
Linda & I have had the great pleasure of working with the Foundation since we moved to Austin nearly a decade ago. Through those thoroughly fulfilling experiences we have been privileged to indulge our palates in the finest fare that Austin's culinary world offers. The level organization and comraderie at WFFT events are without equal; the staff always make us feel special and appreciated.
Linda, a graduate of Purdue University is pursuing a second career as a tri-lingual sign language interpreter as well as volunteer for a group that records books for the Blind and Dyslexic. I am a full-time volunteer, focused on starting local grass-roots groups that help our Austin neighbors in need obtain basics like food, medical, education, employment, transportation and health-based recreation. We are fortunate to be able to give back to our adoptive city that gives us so much every day, not least of which is enjoying the fruits of the Foundation’s hard work.
