2006 Stephan Pyles Culinary Scholarship Winner: Carolyn BreamBefore moving to Texas to pursue a degree in applied science at Le Cordon Bleu, Texas Culinary Academy, Carolyn Bream earned her bachelors degree in theatre and dance at James Madison University. Using the experience she gained working for restaurants in New York City and the Czech Republic, Bream competed in, and won, the Stephan Pyles Celebrity Chef Cook-Off in March 2006, walking away with a $15,000 culinary scholarship. Bream is currently working for Chef Pyles at his Dallas-based restaurant, Stephan Pyles, as part of her externship. Her planned graduation date is December 2006.

A recent culinary graduate of the Art Institute of Houston, Jodie is currently working on completing her baking and pastry degree.

Cooking is Jodie’s passion and she works as a chef instructor of the Central Market cooking school in Houston. Her dream is to eventually tour France and Italy and return to the states to open her own bakery.

2004 Stephan Pyles Scholarship Recipient Susan HarknessOriginally from Ohio, Susan grew up in New Jersey and eventually landed in Dallas where she owned her own catering company, Party Planners, Inc. She has traveled extensively throughout India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Europe and the United States.

Graduating at the top of her class from the Texas Culinary Academy, Ms. Harkness was awarded the prestigious James Beard Scholarship. After graduation, she accepted an externship at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.
