Batter Up for a Grand Slam Tasting
Fourth annual Field of Dreams serves up fine wine, cuisine and “Soles for Souls” Silent Auction with the Round Rock Express for charity

Austin, Texas – May 12, 2009 – The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas and the Round Rock Express are teaming up for the fourth straight year for a home-run event, Field of Dreams. Benefiting the Miracle League, the Nolan Ryan Foundation and The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas, Field of Dreams is a grand slam wine and food tasting featuring an expansive silent auction chock full of sports memorabilia, rare and fine wine, jewelry and other unique items. The event will be held on Thursday, June 25th, 2009, at the United Heritage Center located at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Doors open to the general public at 6:30 p.m.

This culinary showcase and community favorite brings together local chefs and businesses including leading sponsors Russell Korman Jewelers, the Round Rock Express and Francis Ford Coppola Winery. An impressive collection of top chefs from Central Texas will dazzle guests with a selection of sweet and savory appetizers and desserts. The Francis Ford Coppola Winery presents a fine collection of prestigious wines. The event is housed in the beautiful United Heritage Center with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the Dell Diamond.

“It is a thrill to once again be hosting Field of Dreams with the Round Rock Express,” said Rebecca Robinson, Executive Director of The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas. “The Dell Diamond is an incredible venue and it’s rewarding to witness hosts, sponsors, chefs and the Coppola Winery coming together to create an event that is not only a lot of fun, but that also benefits disabled youth and promotes the culinary and viticulture arts in Texas.”

Guests who love to shop for unique gifts will be delighted with a large and diverse silent auction. This year’s “Soles for Souls” Silent Auction will highlight autographed shoes from world renowned athletes, including Olympian Sanya Richards, the newly-drafted Roy Miller, and golfer “Gentle Ben” Crenshaw. In addition to the signed soles, the auction will offer rare bottles of wine, gift certificates to Austin’s favorite restaurants, Round Rock Express keepsakes, and framed and autographed sports memorabilia. A 30-year collection of World Series baseballs – one from each World Series game from the past 30 years – will also be a coveted auction lot.

“Not only is this our best showing yet of wine and cuisine, but we’ve got the best silent auction in the four-year history of this event,” commented Field of Dreams Co-Chair Hank Korman of Russell Korman Fine Jewelry and Watches. “This is an amazing auction for connoisseurs and sports fans alike.”

Culinary participants are longtime Texas favorites including Cool River Café, Mirabelle Restaurant, Freda’s Seafood Grille, The Salt Lick, and Z Tejas. Other restaurants stepping up to the plate are NoRTH Restaurant, Quality Seafood, Fleming’s Steakhouse, McCormick & Schmick’s, Café Spoonz (HEB), Fantasy Cakes, Food Innovations, Tiff’s Treats and newcomer Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Nolan Ryan Beef will also provide small bites for guests.

Field of Dreams is open to the public, but space is limited and attendees are strongly encouraged to register early. Tickets are $30 per person for Foundation members and $40 per person for the general public.
