FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Texas Wines & Cuisine Shine at HOT TIME IN THE CITY

Grand tasting features Beringer wines from California with guest winemaker Michael Kluczko

Austin, Texas – May 18, 2007 – The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas is pleased to announce its Hot Time in the City grand tasting event on Thursday, June 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. This is the fifth annual Texas tasting hosted by the Foundation in conjunction with its Wine Texas Symposium – a continuing education program designed for Texas vintners and growers.

This year’s Symposium, held at the Horseshoe Bay Marriott Resort features Michael Kluczko, formerly of Turkey Flat Winery in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, and Meridian in the Central Coast and now currently VP of Operations for Beringer Vineyards, St. Helena, California. Michael has a long and highly regarded career helping produce award winning wines in both Australia and California.

Following the Symposium, it is Foundation tradition to host a consumer tasting for the participating wineries and vineyards as a high-profile way to showcase Texas wines. Hot Time in the City has since become a critically-acclaimed event in the community and a favorite with Foundation members. Over 30 wines will be poured from different Texas wineries and several of Central Texas most accomplished chefs will be cooking up unique and extraordinary dishes.

“The Foundation is working very hard to serve the many Texas wineries and growers. The industry is growing at an incredible speed and we want to provide continuing expertise in wine growing that is invaluable,” stated Susan Auler, owner of Fall Creek Vineyards and Chair of the Symposium and Hot Time in the City. “We’re extremely fortunate to have a guest of Michael Kluczko’s caliber – he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that is worldwide in scope.”

Mr. Kluczko will be present at Hot Time in the City to chat with guests and offer tasting samples from Beringer Vineyards, Chateau St. Jean, Chateau Souverain, and Greg Norman Estates. Beringer Vineyards has been Napa Valley’s benchmark producer since its establishment in 1876 and continues its rich heritage today offering cutting-edge quality and contemporary elegance. The quintessential Sonoma winery, Chateau St. Jean, has long been recognized as a leader in Vineyard Designated wines since its founding in 1973.

In their new location at the historic Asti winery, Chateau Souverain focuses on maintaining small lot integrity and continues to produce award-winning wines that showcase the best grapes from the best Sonoma County viticultural areas. Finally, approachable Greg Norman Estates is a collection of wines produced from some of finest growing regions of Australia and hopes to perpetuate the role of wine in an active, easygoing lifestyle.

These wines will be featured alongside favorite Texas winemaking stars including Alamosa Wine Cellars, Becker Vineyards, Driftwood Vineyards, Fall Creek Vineyards, Haak Vineyards, Inwood Estates Vineyards, Llano Estacado Winery, McReynolds Winery, Peregrine Hill, Pleasant Hill Winery, Stone House Vineyard and Texas Hills Vineyard among others.

Local guest chefs will be cooking up scrumptious summer fare. Participants currently include: Alamo Draft House, Café Josie, Cedar Grove Steakhouse, Dona Emilia’s South American Bar & Grill, Driskill Hotel (Chefs Mark Chapman and Josh Watkins), Fête Accompli (Quincy Adams Erickson), Fleming’s, Four Seasons Hotel (Chef Elmar Prambs), Jasper’s, Salt Lick Barbecue, and Starlite.

Proceeds of Hot Time in the City will benefit the mission of The Wine & Food Foundation – to support education and research in food and wine throughout the state, including the annual Symposium.

Hot Time in the City will begin with a media reception at 6:00 p.m. and open doors to the public at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 for Foundation members and $50 for non-members.
