FOUNDATION CLASS

TALES OF THE VINE: SUPERSTARS OF
AMERICAN REGIONAL WINE
by Jane Nickles
Texas Culinary  Academy – 11400 Burnet Road www.tca.edu
$50 Foundation members; $60 General public
“Behind every bottle there’s a story; of love, of war, of history, magic, or legend.”  It’s the month of the Fourth of July, so to celebrate we’re putting on a class all about America and American Wines. Join “Miss Jane” Nickles, Wine Educator at the Texas Culinary Academy as we travel to the New Mexico desert to taste America’s favorite sparkling wine, learn about the German Doctor who first planted wine grapes in New York State, meet the man known as “Papa Pinot”, and find out why there is a wine named after a UFO sighting in France.  In this class, woven through some beloved, historical “tales of the vine”, you’ll learn all about the wines that made America famous.

07/17
The Turtle Restaurant is sponsoring a
Farmers' Market Dinner Benefit

July 17, 2008 6pm-9pm.
Chef Morgan E. Robinson will present a three
course made entirely from locally grown produce and proteins.
Five dollars of every dinner will be donated to The Brownwood Farmer's
Market. The Brownwood Farmers' Market is a Texas Certified Farmers
Market. The money raised will help the market recruit new vendors and
promote the market. During the 70s the market had over 75 member
vendors, today there are under a dozen. The Turtle Restaurant is keenly
interested in preserving and recruiting local sources of food for the
table, reducing the mile food travels to our table, and regional food.
