Old World Wines vs. New World Wines Class –
San Antonio
Presented by The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas
WHAT: The
Wine and Food Foundation of Texas presents a fun and interactive
wine class, Old World Wines vs. New World Wines for the
first time in San Antonio. This class, typically held in
Austin, is part of a larger education series led by some
of Texas’ top sommeliers. All classes
are open to the community and appropriate for all experience
levels.
Professional sommeliers lead a dynamic discussion on wines
considered Old World versus those considered New World.
They will outline the geographical, topographical, and
climatic differences they entail and the human element
in which culture plays in various grape growing and winemaking
styles.
Discussion is followed by a tasting and comparisons made
between wines made from grape varieties with well- established
reputations in both the New World and Old World. Topics will
cover the general weight, structure, and flavor profiles
of each, how they differ and why.
Expert pairings and light appetizers will be provided courtesy
of Zinc Champagne and Wine Bar.
